Your TLH craft beer holiday gift guide

A few weeks ago on our Facebook page, we shared a meme that was pretty popular. It read: "People who say you're hard to shop for must not know where to buy beer."

So that got us thinking: With Christmas less than two weeks away, why not lead off our next column with some gift ideas for that craft beer lover in your life?

We're about #LocalSupportingLocal here at the TLH Beer Society, so here's a few gift ideas within a short drive:

Tallahassee Beer Society swag

Yes, we finally have some swag. After numerous requests for TLHBS merchandise, we ordered a limited number of hats, pint glasses, 32 oz. growlers and custom coasters (made in Wakulla County by Cheryl Weaver of Forgotten Coast Jewels). You can send us an email at tlhbeersociety@gmail.com to inquire about these items, or you can pick them up at Fermentation Lounge in the All Saints Districts — our "official-unofficial TLHBS headquarters!"

Proof "Society of Liquid" membership

This annual membership, which is on sale now at proofbrewingco.com, gets you all sorts of perks, including a specially brewed members-only bottle, a Society of Liquid T-shirt and pint glass, a 20 oz. pour on all (normally) 16 oz. Proof beers in the tasting room, access to new releases a day earlier than the general public and the ability to get growler and crowler fills of any beer on their menu. If you're not an SOL member, those same select beers are only available in the tasting room.

Lake Tribe outdoor growlers

Lake Tribe is the only brewery in Tallahassee to sell soft, plastic 32 oz. growlers that are ideal to take on camping trips, on the boat or to the beach. The advantage of these is that — because they aren't made of glass — there's no chance of them breaking and leaving a mess.

Deep insulated growlers

Deep Brewing sells a unique growler, too. Theirs are laser engraved with the Deep logo and vacuum insulated. That means they can keep your beer ice cold for up to 8 hours after it leaves the fridge. Pretty clutch.

Ology sweatshirts and koozies

Just in time for the cooler weather, Ology has two new sweatshirt styles (in light grey and dark grey). They're also the only brewery in Tallahassee to sell crowler koozies to keep your to-go beer cold! Plus, they have 16 oz. koozies that fit snugly around any of the seven tall-boy cans available for sale in the tasting room right now.

GrassLands steins

These Bavarian, ceramic, 20 oz. steins sport GrassLands' awesome logo and include a pour of any beer in the tap room at the time of purchase. Want another beer during that visit? You'll get $1 off each beer.

Fermentation steins

Ferm has sweet steins too! And when you buy one, they come with a great residual deal: You not only get a fill of any beer on the menu at the time of purchase, but every time you bring the stein back to Ferm, you get an extra 4 ounces in your pour and $1 off each pour.

Hop Vine/Tally Brew Bus

From our friends at Growler Country — the No. 1-rated craft beer bar in Florida by craftbeer.com — comes an out-of-control local craft beer clothing line called Hop Vine (hopvine.com), which sells shirts, tanks, hats and stickers. Growler also owns the Tallahassee Brew Bus, and you know your craft beer family or friend would love a gift card to tour our local breweries (tallahasseebrewbus.com).

Happy shopping, TLH craft beer fam!

Brew Bend Lightning Round

Here are some quick hitters about the haps on the local beer scene this weekend:

Eastpoint Beer Company

Big, big news here! Eastpoint Beer Company has rebounded and is opening Sunday! That's right, after their originally scheduled late October opening was delayed by Hurricane Michael — which wrecked the brewery — EBC has been working hard to get back on line. So head down and check out the Big Bend's newest craft brewery as soon as you can!

Ology

Ology's latest bottle release goes down Saturday and this one is a red wine barrel-aged American Sour Ale called "Boysenberry Raspberry Dynamic Fermentum."

Deep Brewing

Over at Deep, they're releasing two new beers this weekend: "Wetsuit Winter Warmer" (an English strong ale with dark crystal malt, caramel and toffee) and "Subsuma" (a double IPA with satsuma oranges).

Proof

Proof's latest collab beer comes out Saturday. This one was brewed with Hidden Springs Aleworks of Tampa, and it's a Neapolitan Berliner Weisse called "Never Nude," which features everyone's favorite ice cream trifecta flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry.

And more ...

Lake Tribe's "Music Under The Stars" returns Saturday with local band the Tuesday Supper Club ... GrassLands' "Papaya Don't Preach" IPA is back. Merry Christmas, everyone!
